Legal Notice
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This English version is provided for convenience only. In the event of any discrepancy, the Spanish version shall prevail.
This legal notice governs access to and use of the website quintanapaz.es (hereinafter, “the site”), owned by Miguel Ángel Quintana Paz, in compliance with the duty to provide information set out in Article 10 of Spanish Law 34/2002 of July 11 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI-CE). Browsing the site makes you a user and implies your acceptance, from that moment on, of all the terms set out here, as well as those in the privacy policy. Anyone who does not agree with them should refrain from using the site.
01Owner’s identification details
The owner of this site, whose domain name is
quintanapaz.es, is Mr. Miguel Ángel
Quintana Paz, whose postal address for notices is calle Nicasio Gallego, 9,
28010 Madrid, Spain, and whose email address is
for the same purposes, and also for requesting further information
for duly justified legal reasons.
02Purpose of the site
The site has an informational, academic, and outreach purpose: to make known the teaching, research, writing, and public activity of its owner (books, articles, academic publications, newspaper columns, interviews, lectures, and other events) and to make it easy for anyone who wishes to write to him to do so and to access his texts. No commercial transactions take place on this site: no goods or services are sold, and there is no purchasing process, paid subscription, or user registration.
03User status
Access to the site is open, free of charge, and requires no prior registration. Merely visiting it does not create any employment, professional, or commercial relationship between the user and the owner; such a relationship would only arise, if at all, from a subsequent express contact.
Users are solely responsible for their use of the site and its content, and for the truthfulness and accuracy of any information they provide to the owner, particularly through the contact form.
04Terms of use
Users undertake to use the content, and in particular the contact form, lawfully, diligently, and in good faith. By way of example, and without this list being exhaustive, users shall refrain from:
- Using the site or its content for unlawful purposes, in ways that harm the rights of third parties, or in ways contrary to the law, morality, or public order.
- Spreading, through any of the site’s contact channels, messages that incite the mistreatment of any person, that resort to threats, blackmail, or coercion, that glorify terrorism, that contain explicit sexual content, or that undermine human dignity or the protection owed to minors.
- Using the contact form to send insulting, defamatory, threatening, or abusive messages to the owner or to third parties, or to send unsolicited advertising or commercial communications.
- Impersonating another person or providing false information when contacting the owner.
- Introducing or spreading viruses, malicious code, or any other device that could damage the site, its content, or the systems of its host or of third parties.
- Attempting to access restricted areas of the site or the systems that support it, or tampering with its security measures.
- Using robots, spiders, or other automated systems to extract the site’s content or the contact details that appear on it on a massive scale, or to overload its operation.
The owner may, without prior notice, delete any message received through the form that breaches the above or that, in his judgment, is inappropriate, and, where the seriousness of the matter so warrants, take the appropriate legal action.
05Information collected through the site
The site collects personal data in only two ways: the one users choose to open themselves when they write to the owner, and the one that results automatically from simply browsing. Specifically:
- Contact form. Whoever writes provides their name, email address, the subject of their inquiry, and the content of their message.
- Browsing. When visiting the site, the user’s browser automatically sends the server that hosts it their IP address, the date and time of access, the page from which they arrive, their operating system, and the browser they use.
- Cookies. The site may use technical cookies, necessary for it to work, and, only with the user’s prior consent, audience measurement cookies.
- Embedded content. The audio and video players from external platforms offered on the site load only when the user activates them; from that moment on, each platform processes its own data.
How all these data are processed, the legal basis for doing so, how long they are kept, and the rights of the persons concerned are explained in detail in the privacy policy.
06Intellectual and industrial property
The texts, articles, images, photographs, audio and video recordings, design, structure, selection and arrangement of materials, color combinations, source code, and other elements of the site are the property of its owner or of third parties who have expressly authorized their use, and are protected by the consolidated text of the Spanish Intellectual Property Law (Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996 of April 12) and by industrial property legislation. All rights reserved.
Quoting and partial reproduction of the texts for purposes of study, research, criticism, commentary, or review are permitted under Article 32 of that law, provided that the authorship and source are credited with a link to the original content. Any other use (in particular full reproduction, distribution, public communication, including making available, transformation, or commercial exploitation of the content, in any medium and by any technical means) requires the prior written permission of the owner. Any unauthorized use will be deemed an infringement of his rights.
Users must also refrain from deleting or altering authorship notices, and from circumventing or disabling the technical measures with which the site protects its content.
Articles and columns originally published in newspapers, magazines, or other media, and reproduced or linked from this site, may also be subject to the rights of their respective publishers; readers interested in reproducing them should contact the owner of this site, bearing in mind that he will in turn need to take into account whatever those publishers consider appropriate.
Third-party logos, trademarks, and content that may appear on or be embedded in the site (for example, video or audio players, book covers, or media mastheads) belong to their respective owners, and their appearance does not imply any right, responsibility, sponsorship, or endorsement on the part of Miguel Ángel Quintana Paz.
Anyone who believes that content on the site infringes their intellectual or industrial property rights, or any other rights, may notify the owner at the email address given in section 01, identifying themselves and specifying the content concerned and the right they consider infringed. The owner will examine the notice diligently and, if it is well founded, will remove or modify the content.
07Links from this site
The site contains links to third-party pages (media outlets, publishers, universities and academic institutions, social networks, and video or audio platforms) for the sole purpose of giving users access to related information. Including a link does not imply any relationship, recommendation, invitation, sponsorship, or approval of its content, and the link may be removed at any time.
The owner does not control those sites, does not adopt as his own anything published or offered on them, and is not liable, either directly or in the absence of those responsible for them, for any damage or loss that may arise from accessing them or from their use, quality, lawfulness, or reliability. Should he become effectively aware that any linked site hosts unlawful content, he will remove the corresponding link as soon as possible.
08Links to this site
Anyone wishing to link to quintanapaz.es may do so freely, without prior permission, whether to its home page or to any specific text or page, provided that they meet the following conditions:
- They shall not reproduce the site’s content within their own page, by means of framing or similar techniques, without clearly indicating its source.
- They shall not make false, inaccurate, or disparaging statements about the owner or his content.
- Beyond the link itself, they shall not use the owner’s name, image, or any other distinctive sign without his express permission.
- They shall not suggest that there is any kind of relationship, oversight, approval, or authorization on the part of Miguel Ángel Quintana Paz with respect to the linking page, unless one actually exists.
- The linking page shall not contain information or content that is unlawful, contrary to morality or public order, or harmful to the rights of third parties.
Linking to this site does not create any right or obligation on the part of the owner, who is likewise not responsible for the content of the linking page. The owner may request the removal of any link that does not meet these conditions.
09Disclaimer of warranties and liability
The texts published on the site express the opinions and analyses of their author and are informational, academic, and educational in nature; they do not constitute professional advice of any kind, and the owner is not responsible for any decisions users may make on the basis of them. Opinions of third parties included on the site (in interviews, reviews, or debates, for example) are the sole responsibility of those who express them.
The owner endeavors to ensure that the information published is accurate and reasonably up to date, and takes the technical measures within his reach to keep the site running, but does not guarantee the absence of errors or omissions, uninterrupted availability of the service (which may be periodically suspended for maintenance), or the absence of viruses or harmful elements introduced by third parties beyond his control. Accordingly, he is not liable for any damage or loss that may result from the above, except where the law expressly requires otherwise.
10Changes to the site
The owner reserves the right to make, without prior notice, any changes to the site he considers appropriate: adding, changing, or removing content, altering its presentation, configuration, or location, and even suspending its operation temporarily or permanently.
11Right of exclusion
The owner reserves the right to deny or withdraw access to the site, without prior notice and on his own initiative or at the request of a third party, to anyone who breaches the provisions of this legal notice.
12Data protection
The processing of the personal data of those who contact the owner, or of those who simply browse the site, is governed by the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of this legal notice.
13General provisions
In the event of a breach of these terms, or of any misuse of the site, the owner may pursue all civil or criminal remedies available to him under the law.
If any clause of this notice is declared void or ineffective, in whole or in part, such nullity shall affect only that provision or the part of it that is void, and the rest of the notice shall remain fully valid. Likewise, the owner’s failure to require compliance with any of these terms at a given time shall in no case constitute a waiver of his right to require it in the future.
14Governing law and jurisdiction
This notice is governed by Spanish law. For the resolution of any dispute arising from its interpretation or performance, the parties submit to the courts and tribunals of Madrid, unless applicable law provides for a different jurisdiction, as is the case when the user is legally a consumer.
15Amendments and validity
The owner may amend this legal notice at any time to adapt it to new legislation, case law, or changes to the site itself, without prior notice. The terms set out here shall be in force from their publication until they are replaced by others duly published; the version in force is, in any event, the one appearing on this page, with the date shown at the top.
