Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This English version is provided for convenience only. In the event of any discrepancy, the Spanish version shall prevail.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this policy: it means your data matter to you, and you have a right to know what happens to them. The text below explains, in as much detail as possible, what personal data are processed through the site quintanapaz.es, for what purpose, on what legal basis, for how long, who else has access to them, and what rights the people who provide them have, all in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD).

01Data controller

The data controller for this site, whose domain name is quintanapaz.es, is Mr. Miguel Ángel Quintana Paz, whose postal address for notices is calle Nicasio Gallego, 9, 28010 Madrid, Spain, and whose email address is Contact email address (shown as an image) for the same purposes, and also for requesting further information for duly justified legal reasons. Appointing a data protection officer for this site does not apply, as it is not legally required for an activity of this size and nature.

02What personal data are

For the purposes of this policy, personal data means any information that makes it possible to identify a natural person, directly or indirectly: for example, their name, email address, or IP address. Most people who visit this site do so without leaving any trace beyond that last, technical piece of data; only those who choose to write also provide their name and message.

03What data are processed and for what purpose

This site is, above all, a personal page of an editorial and academic nature: it has no store, no paid subscription system, no user registration, and no open comments below the texts. The data processing that does take place is therefore limited and specific:

  • Contact form and email. If you write through the form or directly by email, your name, email address, the subject chosen from the drop-down menu, and the content of your message are processed, together with any other information you choose to include, for the sole purpose of reading, handling, and, where appropriate, answering your inquiry.
  • Technical browsing data. Visiting the site automatically generates your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and date and time of access, which are collected by the server hosting the site for operational and security purposes.
  • Embedded third-party content. The audio and video page offers recordings hosted on external platforms: YouTube (Google), Facebook (Meta), iVoox, Spotify, Mixcloud, SoundCloud, Libsyn, esRadio (Libertad Digital), and Canal UNED; it also links to the websites of Spain’s Congress of Deputies and of Podimo. To keep data sharing to a minimum, the players do not load when the page opens, but only when you click “Watch” or “Listen,” and the YouTube players run in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Video thumbnails are served from this site itself, so opening the page does not share any data with those platforms. Once you activate a player, the corresponding platform may set its own cookies and process your data (IP address, device identifiers, listening and viewing habits) as an independent controller, under its own privacy policy.
  • Audience measurement, only with your consent. If you accept analytics cookies in the notice shown when you arrive, a web analytics tool is used to find out, in aggregate, how many people visit the site, which pages are read most, and where the traffic comes from. If you do not accept them, this processing simply does not take place.

04Legal basis

The legal basis for this processing is, depending on the case: the express consent of the person who writes or who accepts analytics cookies (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); the controller’s legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure (Article 6(1)(f)); or, where the inquiry received concerns a possible professional collaboration, the taking of steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).

05Minors

This site offers academic and opinion content intended for an adult audience; it is not designed for children under fourteen and does not knowingly collect their data. If you are under that age, you need the consent of your parents or guardians to write through the contact form.

06Categories of data

The data processed do not belong to any of the special categories protected by the GDPR: they are simply identification and contact data.

07Retention

Messages received are kept for as long as the relationship that prompted the contact lasts and, afterward, for the applicable statutory limitation periods, in case it becomes necessary to prove their content. Browsing data are kept for the period, presumably short, stated in the cookie policy; analytics data, when used with your consent, are kept for no more than fourteen months.

08Recipients and data processors

Personal data are not sold, transferred, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes, or on any other basis except where required by law. The following providers do have access to them, as data processors and only to the extent strictly necessary to provide their services:

  • Web hosting: [hosting provider]
  • Email management: [email provider]
  • Audience measurement, if the user consents: [analytics tool, if used]

09International transfers

Some of the providers above may be established outside the European Economic Area, particularly in the United States. In that case, the transfer is covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision, where the provider has signed up to it, or otherwise by the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. [Confirm based on the providers actually used] The same applies to several of the platforms whose content is embedded on the audio and video page, some of them based in the United States (such as Google, Meta, and Libsyn), once the user activates their players.

10Security measures

Reasonable technical and organizational measures, in line with the state of the art and the nature of the data processed, are applied to protect the data against loss, alteration, misuse, or unauthorized access, whether those risks stem from human action or from the technical environment itself.

11Exercising your rights

Anyone may request, free of charge, access to their personal data, their rectification or erasure, restriction of their processing, and their portability, and may object to their processing. Simply write to the email address given in section 01, proving your identity and briefly explaining your request.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

If you believe your rights have not been properly respected, you may file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos), calle Jorge Juan, 6, 28001 Madrid, Spain, or through its online portal (sedeagpd.gob.es).

12External links and third-party content

The site includes links and, on some pages, embedded content from sites that the controller neither manages nor controls. Before providing any personal data to those third-party sites, bear in mind that their privacy practices may differ from those described here; the controller accepts no responsibility in this regard.

13Social networks

The site links to the controller’s public profiles on various social networks. The processing of the data of anyone who interacts with those profiles, outside quintanapaz.es, is governed by the privacy policy of the social network in question, which you should consult before using it.

14Cookies

The site uses its own cookies, which are necessary for it to work, and, only if the user expressly consents, third-party cookies to measure the audience in aggregate. In addition, the platforms whose players are embedded on the audio and video page may set their own cookies, but only once the user activates one of those players. Details of all these cookies, and how to reject them, are set out in the cookie policy.

15Acceptance and revocability

Using the site and, where applicable, submitting the contact form means that the user has been informed of this policy and consents to the processing of their data on the terms described here. That consent, where it is the basis for processing, may be withdrawn at any time and without retroactive effect, as explained in section 11.

16Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to adapt it to new legislation, case law, or changes to the site itself. The version in force is, in any event, the one published on this page, with the date shown at the top.
